Fighting Swine Flu

I have just been read a while back that the Swine Flu pandemic had claimed 108 lives at that point in the UK, and the government had announced that all at risk groups will be given the Swine Flu vaccine. I hadn’t researched it fully, but I heard plenty of rumblings as to why not to have it and it did concern me. I have an elderly ,other, and I want her to be protected, but in the most effective way, with as little in way of side effects as possible.

I’ve been talking to a few of my patients, who know family members across the world as far as New Zealand who have contracted the illness. Thankfully other than a few aches and pains, a week off work, they have managed to recover without suffering too much in way of difficulty.

I believe that it may be possible to avoid becoming ill or at the very worst if one should contract it, to avoid its full impact.

It’s a question of immune system efficiency. Generally speaking any bacterial viral or even fungal problems manage to affect us due to or depressed immune response.

Our body’s natural defence is orchestrated by the lymphatic system. Strong lymphology means efficient immune response.

The ways to help the immune system are varied:

Healthy nutrition which should include supplements, particularly the RDA Vitamin C and Zinc

Avoid smoking

Regular exercise with adequate rest in between.

Plenty of sleep

Healthy attitude with a mental positivity, supporting your body to do what comes naturally.

If you are doing all these things, then its highly likely that, unless you have an underlying respiratory or health problem, you should get through this with minimum of difficulty. But if you aren’t doing these things, or even if you are and you would like to ensure you get through this with more support, then there are treatments which you can have which will help to strengthen your immune system.

Regularly CranioSacral Therapy affords good levels of support to the immune system, as it impacts all bodily systems directly through its effects on nervous response. This is an ongoing therapy, which, if utilised once in 8 weeks, after an initial programme of up to 6 treatments, will work at helping natural physical defences. It’s able to do this because it relieves tension patterns in the body which might affect smooth functioning of the immune system.

A more direct approach is Manual Lymphatic Drainage. This is a very gentle, smooth slow and rhythmical massage technique, which is very precise in its nature. It appears to positively affect the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system, inducing relaxation. Alongside the relaxation which offers the obvious respite of a body suffering the effects of stress, it begins to stimulate lymphatic activity.

This boosts the production and work of the cells actively responsible for defending the body against invasion from external micro-organisms. A weekly treatment for up to 6 weeks followed by maintenance, of between 4 to 6 weeks can prove extremely effective in fighting not just swine flu, but many more conditions which threaten to attack the body’s defence mechanisms.
