Treatment - Trigger Point Therapy

“Movement is a fundamental characteristic of life and the musculature plays the major role in that activity.” (Finando/Finando-The practice of informed touch)
Trigger points are areas, which form in muscle and fascia, through overuse, trauma, or even under use. Through massage contact, when located, trigger points can feel intensely painful, but if worked on can bring relief from many pain conditions. Trigger points are sometimes responsible for referred pain, so if you are a sufferer of migraines the origin of the pain may exist within muscle tissue elsewhere in the body. Left unchecked trigger points can result in chronic conditions where they will affect the balanced flow of energy through meridians. This in turn will affect aspects of physiology, like blood flow, lymphatic drainage and nervous response.
Trigger point therapy is a specific technique of massage, which identifies an area of pain, looks for its origin and works towards bringing relief in differing degrees. It has been suggested that 85% of physical pain, wherever it exists is due to the presence of trigger points.
